Get to know me
Hi! I'm Mariia, a Software Engineer based in Germany. I'm currently completing my Master's degree in Web Engineering at the Technical University of Chemnitz and working on my Master's thesis, which focuses on improving developer workflow through integration of automated web UI assessment. I like understanding how software systems work as a whole. I have experience with design, frontend and backend development, databases, data engineering, deployment, and developer tooling, and I enjoy seeing how all of these parts fit together.

Background
I was born and raised in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where I spent almost the first 20 years of my life. I graduated from gymnasium there and later earned my Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”. I was also a professional swimmer and became a Ukrainian swimming champion in my age category. During my studies, I gained my first professional experience in IT through several internships at EPAM Systems, working in both software development and data engineering.
What I'm Doing Now
Currently, I'm mainly focused on two things:
- Master's thesis: I'm developing a system for integrating automated Web UI assessment into software development workflows, with a focus on IDE and CI/CD integration, assessment history, and developer feedback.
- Self-employment: I provide IT services to businesses, including website design and development, technical setup, deployment, and ongoing support. I'm also open to working on other software and technical projects depending on what a business needs.
A Few Side Quests
If you've made it this far, I'm honestly a little impressed.
When I'm not working or staring at a screen, I try to spend as much time as possible outside, preferably somewhere with fresh air, sunshine, or water. I recently joined Schwimm-Club Chemnitz von 1892 e.V. and have already taken part in several competitions, including the German Masters Championships. I didn't win, but I wasn't the last one either, so I'll take that.
I'm also curious about a lot of things that have nothing to do with my main work. Recently, I've been reading about spacecraft operations, exploring Raspberry Pi projects, doing creative hands-on things, and getting back into fantasy books.
Since moving to Germany, I've also put a lot of effort into learning the language and getting involved in the local community. I volunteer with Internationales Engagement Chemnitz e.V., where I lead seminars about education in Germany and help newcomers better understand the system and find their way around life in Germany.
